Certificate of Occupancy Permit
Overview
An occupancy permit provides quality assurance that a building or part of a building is in substantial compliance with minimum health and safety regulations enforced by the Building & Safety Division. It is unlawful to use or permit the use of any building or premises without first obtaining a certificate of occupancy. A certificate of occupancy is required for all new residential and commercial buildings and any addition, change of use, business, or tenant in a commercial building.
Value of Work Form
If you need both a building and occupancy permit, we ask that you fill out this value of work form. This gives us a detailed description of your work. This needs to be completed at the time of the building permit application.
Permit Fee
Fees are charged to offset the cost of providing inspection services. The fee or inspection charge is based off the square footage of the space.
