Welcome to the City of Wauwatosa! As a new resident, you likely have many questions about the city’s services, community, and culture. We are here to help answer your questions, and to give you an overview of what makes Wauwatosa special.
Areas of Wauwatosa
The City of Wauwatosa consists of several distinct districts. East Tosa is a classic “Main Street” with an array of goods and services, located along North Avenue between Wauwatosa Avenue and 60th Street. East Tosa is now home to six murals, all within walking distance of each other, that are a part of NoMAD (North Avenue Mural Arts District). The Northwest Corridor is home to the industrial businesses and warehouses of Tosa. MidTown Tosa, along North Avenue from Menomonee River Parkway to Wauwatosa Avenue, is home to both commercial goods and services, and an urban residential neighborhood. The Village is the historic commercial heart of the city. With local and national shops, various restaurants, and century-old brick buildings, there is something for everyone in The Village.
The city is also home to the Wauwatosa Life Sciences District, which is comprised of the Milwaukee County Research Park, the Technology Innovation Center, the UWM Innovation Campus, and the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. In addition to this concentration of medical and technical research and application, Wauwatosa is the home to Mayfair Road. Mayfair Road boasts both Mayfair Mall and Mayfair Collection, and also serves as a central location with access to Highway 45.

Library cards are available to all eligible residents of Milwaukee County. Library cards are available in person at any MCFLS member library and are valid for 2 years. Adults, who are 16-years-of-age and older, can bring a valid Wisconsin ID or Driver’s License with current Milwaukee County address or must show two forms of ID.

The city issues water, sewer, and storm water bills quarterly in the mail around the first of the month. Bills are due on the 20th of each month. Bills are issued to the owner or resident. If you want, the bill can be mailed to an address other than the service address. You can pay your bill online, by mail, in person, by using the 24 hour deposit located at the south-west end of City Hall, through your private bank’s online bill pay, or over the phone.
