Medication Collection

A permanent drop box is available at the Wauwatosa Police Department for all expired and unused prescription and over the counter medications. You must be a Wauwatosa resident and valid identification is required.

Collection Hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 7 am – 8 pm

No needles/sharps, household chemicals, hygiene items, biohazard material will be accepted.

Sharps Collection

We will collect sharps in approved medical grade red sharps containers from individuals who live or work in Wauwatosa free of charge. Collection will be held on Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at the Wauwatosa Health Department located at 7725 W. North Avenue. See pictures below for examples of accepted containers.

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) rules apply to the disposal of needles, syringes, lancets, or other sharps. If you or family members use these items, please plan ahead for their proper disposal.
