Guided Walking Tour of Wauwatosa Cemetery: Step into History
Step into Wauwatosa’s past with a guided walking tour of the historic Wauwatosa Cemetery, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023. This special place tells the story of the people who shaped our community, from early settlers to civic leaders whose names still appear on our streets, parks, and buildings today.
Throughout the tour, you’ll visit the final resting places of prominent families such as Clapp, Fisher, Gilbert, Hart, Harwood, Hoyt, Underwood, Warren, and Wheeler. You’ll also explore unique sections of the cemetery, including those established by the Lutheran Kinderheim Society for children and the Lutheran Altenheim for adults, offering a deeper look into the social history of the area. The cemetery is also home to veterans dating back to the Revolutionary War.
Tours are led by trained volunteers and offer a thoughtful, engaging way to connect with local history.
