A loading zone is the portion of a street adjacent to a curb or property line reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles for the purpose of loading or unloading materials, articles or commodities.
The license period is from January 1 – December 31. New permit applications must be approved by the Common Council. (Municipal Code Chapter 12.32)
If you are looking to temporarily place materials in the street right-of-way during construction only, then please apply for a Storage in the Right-of-Way (ROW) permit.
How to apply
You can apply online using this self-service portal. You can upload any needed documents and process payments online. During the application process, you will be required to submit:
- A location diagram
- The application fee
Fees
The annual fee is $30 for loading zones 30 feet or less in length. An additional fee of $1 is charged for each lineal foot in excess of the 30-foot length.
Additional fees may apply for initial loading zone set up.
