Wisconsin State Statutes s. 66.0907(3) outlines that property owners are responsible for repair or replacement of unsafe or defective sidewalk in the public right-of-way adjacent to their property. Many property owners are not prepared to perform the necessary work themselves, so we perform the work and assess the cost to the property owner. For alternate sidewalk repair options, view our Sidewalk Maintenance FAQ.
Sidewalks are on a 10-year repair cycle, so once we are in your neighborhood, we won’t be back for another ten years. Check out this map to see where we plan to perform sidewalk work in the next ten years.
We mark sidewalk areas that need repair. We look for sidewalks that are:
- Raised 3/4 of an inch or more
- Settled 3/4 of an inch or more
- Excessively tilted
- Badly cracked
- Badly deteriorated
