Sidewalks are an essential asset to our community that provide us with safer routes to school, connect our residential areas to commercial districts, and more. We repair or replace unsafe sidewalks in the public right of way to make sure they are in good condition for all pedestrians.

Did you know that there are over 5 million square feet of sidewalk in our community? We repair sidewalks on a 10 year cycle, so once we are in your neighborhood, we won’t be back for another ten years. Check out this map to see where we plan to perform sidewalk work in the next ten years.
You may notice markings on your sidewalk, and that helps us determine potentially hazardous sidewalks to begin repairing in the next sidewalk contract.
How do we determine whether a sidewalk needs repair or replacement? We walk the proposed sidewalk area each year and look for sidewalks that are:
- Raised 3/4 of an inch or more
- Settled 3/4 of an inch or more
- Excessively tilted
- Badly cracked
- Badly deteriorated
