Green Infrastructure

Wauwatosa uses green infrastructure to help manage stormwater and reduce its impact on our community. Examples include rain barrels and rain gardens, green roofs, bioswales, and trees.

Green infrastructure projects are made possible through our participation in the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s Green Solutions and Green Infrastructure Partnership Programs. Learn more.

Upcoming Projects

  • 2026: A Green Alley was constructed on N. 102nd St., supported by Green Solutions funding. Green Solutions and Green Infrastructure Partnership Program funding also supported porous asphalt bike lanes on Watertown Plank Rd. and N. 115th St.
  • 2028: Porous bike lanes and stormwater trees are planned for North Ave.
  • 2028–2030: Green Alleys are planned at three locations in Wauwatosa.
  • Ongoing: We evaluate construction projects for green infrastructure during project planning and design.
